Hello, I’m Cath, I’m a qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member of The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer short term and long term face to face counselling in central Reading and online.
Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed or stressed and anxious. Are you experiencing repeated negative patterns of thinking and behaviour? Do you feel like you're going around in circles or struggling with creating healthy boundaries? Do you feel a lot of inner conflict
Whatever issues you are facing, you're not alone.
Sometimes, we all need extra support in our daily lives when life gets too challenging - and there is hope for change and leading a happier, more fulfilling life.
As an integrative counsellor, our relationship is central and I work closely with you so that you can realise your full potential while exploring and understanding different aspects of yourself. We build a trusting relationship based on safety, acceptance, empathy, and respect.
Drawing upon Person-Centred Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy, I focus on the person as a whole, as we all unique, and what helps one person may not work for another.
The therapeutic process encourages positive change within you, which can enable you to become more in touch with your true self and to make better, healthier choices.
I am a registered member of The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework.
As an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor near Reading and online, I draw upon a range of approaches for our counselling sessions.
I use a person-centred approach to all my counselling which means that you - the client - are at the centre of our counselling journey.
By drawing on psychodynamics I help you explore and understand your feelings so that you feel safe.
I am experienced in working with various issues with adults. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling.
If you are experiencing something not listed, please contact me to see how we could work together.

You may want to try counselling, if you struggle to cope and find day-to-day life difficult. Talking to someone in confidence who offers warmth, non judgement and empathy can make all the difference in exploring your feelings and discussing any problems you're experiencing.
Finding the right counsellor can take time - it’s important that you feel comfortable and safe opening up to them. The best way to find out more about how a counsellor works is by asking questions such as what their qualifications are and what their approach to counselling is.
The relationship with your counsellor is important and feeling comfortable with them. I offer an initial 20-minute free call so that you can ask me questions and decide if we are a good match. As a qualified integrative counsellor, I can help you explore and understand your feelings in a safe space, where you are accepted for being you and not judged, this hopefully allows you to move forward and get the most out of your life.

With online video counselling, you can have counselling sessions in the comfort and convenience of your own home. It can be helpful to ring-fence a few minutes of downtime after the end of each session to reflect and regroup before restarting your daily routine - replacing the journey time that we would have with a face-to-face session. Counselling is offered on secure online platforms such as Google Meet or Teams.
Starting counselling may feel daunting at first, and it is a brave decision to make. Counselling with me takes place in a confidential safe space between you and me, where I listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement and where we can build a trusting relationship together.
Every client is different with unique life experiences and with an integrative approach to counselling, I can tailor my counselling for your specific needs and goals drawing from different therapeutic methods.
Together we can regularly review how many sessions you may like. Most sessions start weekly to build momentum so you can make steady progress towards your goals. Each person and situation is unique; we can work in an open ended way if you are unsure how many sessions you would like - I offer both short and long term therapy.
It’s ok if you're not sure exactly what you want from therapy. You may feel confused or overwhelmed and it can be hard to fit the pieces together. This may be the main reason for you coming to see a therapist. You may be clearer about what you don't want anymore, or what you might like to leave behind, maybe what is holding you back. Or you may have a really clear idea - together we can work with both.
During counselling sessions, it is normal to feel a range of emotions, which may sometimes continue after the session. You may feel relieved if you've shared something important and felt heard and understood. Sometimes, you may feel sadness if you've found the session challenging or complex and are working through feelings that may have been buried. You may feel energised maybe if you've started to understand something new about yourself or feel like you’ve worked through some bottled up feelings.
Sessions can be short- or long-term and open-ended, you’re in control and decide how many sessions you would like. We will review regularly together how the sessions are working for you, and how many you feel you would like.
Fees: Online or in-person sessions cost £60.00 and last 50 minutes. You can pay via bank transfer before your appointment.
Cancellation: Please give 48 hours notice before your session starts, or full payment is required.
I offer both online and in-person weekly counselling where you can visit me at The Therapy Centre in central Reading.

We hear a lot about self care - but what does it mean, and how do we do it?
It can be just making time for the things and people that make us feel good, and what makes us feel good will vary. It's not necessarily (though it could be) about expensive spa days, treatments or luxury holidays, it's about giving ourselves what we need.
This means self care won't always look like the same thing for you, sometimes it can be what we call 'boring self care' - spending a bit of time making our home look cleaner or tidier can lift our mood, or making health appointments, exercising, personal hygiene or eating regularly.
For me it starts with listening to myself - asking how am I feeling right now - and what would help me to feel good? Do I want to feel energised, or relaxed, do I need to connect with a friend, or do I just need to spend a bit of time alone? Do I need a change of scene, maybe spending a bit of time in nature - or some exercise to burn off some stress hormones and get my feel good chemicals flowing?
Self care links to our boundaries as well, we need to earmark time for self care, and that may mean us saying no to people sometimes.
How does that idea feel - saying no and prioritising you? Sometimes it can help to book out time in our diaries and make an appointment with ourselves.
Contact cath@cathpricecounselling.co.uk or call me on 07938 098414 if you have any questions about how counselling works, or if you would like to arrange a free initial assessment appointment. It can feel daunting starting counselling and I’m happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
I offer a free 20-minute consultation which can take place on the telephone or online. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of starting counselling, whether it would be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help. This also gives me the opportunity to find out more about you, your background and your current struggles and talk you through the counselling process.
For more information about how I can help as an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor in Reading and online, please get in touch at anytime. I will get back to you within 24 hours.
